Stranded Wire

Stranded wire can be used for large antennas with a few loops. If a smaller gauge stranded wire is used, more turns may be necessary to achieve resonance. There are many sources of stranded wire. The 12AWG (blue) wire below is available at electrical supply stores. The 10AWG and 8AWG wire are used in automotive stereo systems and can be purchased at Radio Shack. The black 0AWG wire is used for welding.
